Fucking Republicans
So the Supreme Court has allowed any, even foreign corporation, to spend unlimited sums of money to finance campaign ads. Obama and the Democrats have sought to at least install a transparent system to show who specifically donated money for ads and not allowing foreign-controlled corporations to do so, but it looks like they are going to come up short.
Last election McCain got some pretty huge campaign donations from big companies even though there are strict limits on that by using a small loophole… The campaign donation limit is much higher if you donate to the party, and the candidate can take half of that. The Obama campaign largely relied on millions of small (around $500) donations, a much more broad distribution of campaign influence.
These rules haven’t changed, but with the Supreme Court decision corporations can support a candidate without it being part of his campaign budget… It’s a way to sidestep that whole system. So, the next election, the Republicans (who typically represent special interests and large corporations) will be able to get large expensive campaign support ads from few powerful corporations even if they do not have popular support. This is a very scary situation for if someone were to appeal to the general populace to raise campaign money he could still come up short against the money pooled together by the few!
One percent of America controls 90 percent of wealth, but a vote is a vote. But if the majority of wealth can be used to support one candidate, can the other candidate (one who could potentially level the playing field and threaten entrenched wealth) stand a chance?
Democrats, as retarded as they are, are having a hard time making any progress because the Republicans absolutely refuse to play ball. No matter how many people suffer.. and yet no one calls them out on it! Why?
